Ship's First Mate Buck Ko of The HMS Imperial – "Bucko" - you are the somewhat-trusted First Mate of Captain Samuel Scurvy, who was murdered. You're next in line to command after that do-gooder First Officer William Tate, who has now taken over command.
You have your friends, and are plotting for "something" to possibly happen to Mr. Tate when the time is right. But you'll have to watch your pantaloons, because he has his friends too. But there's a lot of treasure at stake.
You've become quite wary of everyone, not knowing who to trust... you'll especially have to watch your back at the Dark Dog Inn, because anything can happen there. However, it's the only place to satisfy your gambling urge, and you have both acquired and lost plenty of gold coins there. The management is friendly to you because you always bring some of your shipmates along to help drink the ale.
NOTE: This character is not part of the real Mystery (we didn't want to ruin it for you, in case you participate)... but he is very similar to the regular Mystery characters.
Dress Suggestions: Clothes suggesting a Royal Naval uniform that was worn in the 17th century - triangular hat, long coat, high boots, frilly shirt, a (play) cutlass.
You go up to Innkeeper Johnny Tapp and ask him to spread the word that you're interested in a treasure map and willing to pay top dollar.
You go up to Long John Sliver and tell him that you're going to pay off your debts in a couple of days.
You go up to gold dealer Blythe Bullion and tell her that you may have some gold for her to exchange into bullion pretty soon.
You suggest to innkeeper Johnny Tapp that he should sponsor a card "tournament," and give out a grand prize to the winner as it would bring in a lot of business, and you could pay off your debts in one fell swoop if you won.
Mingle and ask where suspicions individuals were at the time of the murder.
You have a gambling problem, which is why you haven't been given your own ship to Captain yet. You owe a lot of money to some less-than-upright characters, and have to pay it back right away. If
you can beg, borrow or steal the treasure map, you know some people who could turn it into gold and save your skin.
You have an accomplice that helps you cheat in card games by standing behind other players and signaling you about the cards they're holding. You're reluctant to use her very often, but when the
time is right, it will come in very handy.
You saw something funny happen when the Captain's body was found... you're not sure what was going on, but you may have found some blackmail material for some extra cash, or at least to barter with.
